Misti is a collaboration between artists Nicholas Delap and Laīna Linkeviča.Together they form a generative inter-space where mythic English and Baltic histories entwine, spiralling into the ether of imaginative landscapes navigated through ‘journeying’, digital worlds and physical installations.

For this exposition Misti collaborates with artist Katya Sykes to echo the songs of the blooming oyster mushrooms live into the La Vallée space, accompanied by a collection of sculptures carefully nurtured and created from fungal matters by Katya.

Their installation is a glimpse of a utopian future where nature has reclaimed the industrial space of LaVallée. Populating it with sculptures created out of reishi mycelium, turkey tail mushroom mâché, 3D printed filament, wood and silk. The work explores a symbiotic relationship between organics and electronics to disrupt imposed binary notions and value judgements concerning the real or the imagined, in favour of a rekindling of the personal and social power of play as a tool for metamorphic engagement.

The audience is invited to interact with the fawn and the saprotrophic organisms which are housed in its silk grooves. Through tactile interaction trans-species relations are encouraged, activating the soft celebrations of the ‘more than human’ world.

Through interaction and play, unobvious energetic qualities will be amplified and revealed, inspiring insights of imaginative prescience and empathic sensitivity. This encourages explorations of expanded ecologies and relationships that populate our living universe.

Seeking to make ancestral traditions heard and visible - which have been rationalised out of the Western paradigm, the work explores technology as an organic tool to promote interconnected wellbeing. Helping us seed alternative futures and grow them into being, tentatively healing our relationship to ourselves, each other and our environments.
